The term \u201cplastic\u201d originated from the Latin plasticus and Greek plastikos, both with the meaning \u201cto shape or mold into various forms.\u201d Plastic is a versatile material that has been used in all types of creation. Countless advancements in technology were achieved with the help of plastic, from life-saving devices in the healthcare industry to equipment that produces clean drinking water. The adaptability and relatively low costs of the material made it an essential part of the modern world. Unfortunately, plastic pollution has been an emerging environmental issue these few years. The increasing production of plastic products has swamped the world\u2019s ability to deal with them. A great advantage of plastic is that it is made to last for a long time. However the same blessing of its long lifespan is also a curse. Plastics break down into tiny plastic particles known as microplastics but never fully disappear. This slow decomposition of the material causes great harm toward the ecosystem, some of which makes its way into the food chain of organisms. Despite the numerous efforts and campaigns to fight plastic pollution all over the globe, a lot more needs to be done in order to eradicate this problem.<\/p><\/p>\n\n\n\n
