Arau, 27th July 2017 – Food and Biomaterial Engineering Research Group (FoBERG) from Faculty of Chemical and Energy Engineering (FCEE) of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) have made FCEE and UTM proud in The 1st International Malaysia-Indonesia-Thailand Symposium on Innovation and Creativity (iMIT SIC 2017) by winning the UNRI (Universitas Riau) Special Award, Gold Medal and Silver Medal.
IMIT-SIC 2017 was organized by UiTM Perlis branch, Arau campus provided a platform for lecturers, researchers, postgraduate students, and undergraduate students from Malaysia, Indonesia and Thailand to share and present their innovative and creative projects or products that optimistically contribute to the better future. This international symposium were participated by more than 400 products from local and international universities such as USM, UiTM, UTM, UPSI, Universitas Riau (UNRI), Universitas Islam Riau (UIR), Princess of Naradhiwas University (PNU) and Prince Sokhla University. This international symposium was divided under three categories; staff, postgraduate students and undergraduate students with three different scopes; Science, Technology and Engineering, Social Science and Humanities and Business and Management.
Nor Diana Hassan and Nur Shakira Sahat under supervision of Prof Dr Ida Idayu Muhamad and Dr Dayang Norulfairuz Abang Zaidel received the Gold Medal for project entitled ‘Natri-Fc : Natural and Highly Nutritious Formulated Colorant for Health and Wealth’. This project then was selected to receive UNRI Special Award for Postgraduates Category. While Azni A. Aziz and Alyani Mohd Padzil received Silver Medal under Postgraduates Category for project ‘Purple Sweet Potato as Natural Antioxidant and Colourant for Biscuit’.
