Piala De Cheme 2017 was held on the 23th to 25th of February 2017 located at K9/K10, Dewan KTHO, KTR and KRP. The director for this event was Yulia Hanim, a first year chemical engineering student. Around 150 participants took part in this event. They consisted of first, second, third and fourth year chemical engineering students from FCEE.
Among the activities held were futsal, takraw, basketball, volleyball, netball, badminton, pingpong and e-games. For Ping Pong, the winners of the sport event were the first years for gold medallist, fourth years for silver medallist and the second years for bronze medallist. Next, for basketball, male category, the second years received first place, the first years received second place and the fourth year, third place. For basketball female category, the first place goes to Dynamite and the runner up goes to team Anonymous. For netball, the first years won first place, the fourth years won second place and the third years won third place. The third years won first place for takraw and the fourth years won second place for the sepak takraw competition.
For futsal competition, the third years won first place, the second years won second place and the first years won third place. As for the badminton competition, singles female event, Chen Xiu Han of third year won the first place, Zahidah Husna of third year as well won second place and Nurul Izzaty of first year won third place. For the singles male event, Wan Shahrul Nizam of fourth year won the first place, Muhammad Zulhilmi of first year won second place and Azri Izani of third year won third place.
In addition, doubles female and male badminton competitions were also carried out. Azini and Zahidah of third year won first place and Nur Aqila and Syuhada of fourth year won second place. As for doubles male, Wan Shahrul Nizam and Sahrizawan of fourth year won first place, Azri Izani and Nizamuddin of third year won second place, Azri and Shahril of third year won third place. For volleyball male competition, the Alumni won first place, Salman Chong, second and Fifty won third place. Izati won the first place and Maria was runner up for female volleyball male competition. PDC tried out a new sport this time around. They included e-games into the competition. Fifa online match was held and the winners are Izwan, gold medalist from second year, Nazreen, silver medallist from second year as well and Zamri, bronze medallist from first year.
The event came to a close with a closing ceremony which was held at Dewan Sri Merbau. Overall, the event was held successfully. The objectives of the event which is to strengthen the bond between seniors and juniors, to select representatives for the Intervarsity Championship as well as to birth the sports spirit were well achieved. We look forward to the Intervarsity Championship which will be held in March. Attached is some pictures as well as the expenses and income received.
