This workshop is designed to create awareness about global food crisis and challenges in sustainability. A better understanding of regional food safety and security issues in global context. Today food systems have become globally connected therefore analysis of social and economic factors in the environmental assessment would provide meaningful comparisons to monitor environmental performance, regulatory compliance and consumer communication. Changing the consumer’s behaviour toward balanced diet consumption and reduction of food waste would be an integral part of the global strategies for sustainable food systems. The workshop will cover:
- Importance of sustainability in food resources
- Sustainable supply chain – farm to fork
- Role of food safety in future food security
- Impact of economic and environment factors
- Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) approach
- Issues of biodiversity, climate change and soil quality

How does sustainability performance affect your organisation and what is your organisation doing to monitor the sustainability performance? Industries now have to consider sustainability as an economic factor in their business strategies. As companies struggle to adopt sustainability best practices, there is a need for process engineers, managers and policy makers to be equipped with the necessary techniques and tools to improve processes. This workshop provides an introduction to the key concepts and principles of resource conservation and the hands-on training for sustainability assessment, energy, water efficient technique and efficient waste management. It is specifically aimed at assisting business and industry, and other organisations to monitor sustainability performance – a key first step towards reducing resources i.e. energy, water and waste generation.
In this course you will:
- Explore the background drivers for sustainability in industry
- Learn about international best practice, standards and methodologies
- Learn about different methods and tools for sustainability performance assessment and monitoring
- Learn about troubleshooting of industrial problem
Post-conference Workshop (23 November 2016)
Workshop 1: One-Day Workshop: Article Management and Thesis Writing
Time: 8.30am to 5.30pm

Speaker :

How to write a thesis? This guide gives simple and practical advice on the problems of getting started, getting organised, dividing the huge task into less formidable pieces and working on those pieces. It also explains the practicalities of surviving the ordeal. It includes a suggested structure and a guide to what should go in each section. It was originally written for graduate students in physics, and most of the specific examples given are taken from that discipline. Nevertheless, the feedback from users indicates that it has been widely used and appreciated by graduate students in diverse fields in the sciences and humanities.
