On the 18th July 2017, YAB Perdana Menteri had an exclusive roundtable dialogue with about 20 scientists from various fields at Perdana Putra. This session with the leading Malaysian scientists was conducted to obtain inputs, views and aspirations on the country’s direction towards TN50, particularly in terms of areas of research and technology for the country to focus on, in line with Akademi Sains Malaysia’s Foresight 2050 report. Also present were Academy of Sciences Malaysia president, Prof Datuk Asma Ismail and science advisor to the prime minister, Prof Tan Sri Zakri Abdul Hamid. As from Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, three scientists from this university were involved in the dialogue session. They are Professor Datuk Dr Halimaton Hamdan, Professor Dato’ Ir Dr A. Bakar Jaafar and Assoc Prof Ir Dr Mimi Haryani Hassim. Assoc Prof Ir Dr Mimi Haryani Hassim is an academic staff in the Faculty of Chemical and Energy Engineering, UTM.
