
The objective of this course is to introduce the students to basic engineering concept and prepare them on how to become a good chemical engineer. This course intended to bridge pre-university education to university life and provide support for the students in adjusting to learning and expectations in tertiary education. The course content includes overview of engineering, the profession and its requirements in the Malaysian scenario. Additionally, we will help the students to improve their communication (oral and written) and teamwork skills, mind mapping, learning styles and time management.
Other related subject to this course include basic calculations of common process variables and unit conversions, CPBL case study on sustainable development, create an engineering graph, solving simple iterative problems using Microsoft Excel or Matlab, engineering ethics, seminar and plant visits. This course employs Cooperative Learning (CL) and grooms students with skills for Cooperative Problem-based Learning (CPBL).
