Student Societies
Two student societies have been established in this faculty, namely the UTM Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE-UTM Student Chapter), and a students’ club called Gas Engineering Students Society (GESS). The society and club are located at block N05. Student societies are established to encourage interactions among students, staff, and representatives from industry and also to inculcate positive generic skills among students.

This is a well-known Petroleum Engineering society which is based in Dallas, Texas of the United States of America. It was officially established in 1988 to expose the undergraduates to the current oil and gas industry developments and as a platform for them to interact. In order to accomplish its objective, seminars and conferences that involved personnel from renowned oil and gas companies in Malaysia are held throughout the year.

This society is especially dedicated for all Gas Engineering undergraduate and post-graduate students. Among the activities held by this society are industrial visits to places related to gas transmission and distribution, gas storage, and gas processing, educational camping, career talks, professional talks, mini seminars and First Year Orientation Night as well as Graduation Night for the final year students.
