Chemical Engineering at FChE, UTM
Undergraduate programs in chemical engineering at the Faculty of Chemical Engineering (FChE), UTM prepare students for direct entry into the chemical engineering profession. Our graduates are educated, equipped and trained to compete with the best engineering graduates in the world for positions in industrial and government sectors, as well as in the research institutes and top graduate schools anywhere. Up to date, since the establishment in 1983, we have produced more than 7000 chemical engineering graduates, and thus makes us the largest chemical engineering program and producer in Malaysia and its region.
Students-centred Learning Environment
In our undergraduate programs, students learn in student-centred learning environments, such as active learning, cooperative learning and problem-based learning. Such teaching and learning methodologies promote deep learning, equip generic skills and instil positive attitude among students, which are highly desired by industries and other employment sectors. With regard to generic skills, we are very particular in developng our undergraduate students to acquire communication skills, critical thinking and problem solving skills, teamworking skills, entrepreneurship skills, information management and lifelong learning skills, leadership skills, and ethics and professionalism integrity.
Learning Facilities
FChE is equipped with proper learning facilities essential to ensure a condusive learning environment. We have excellent classrooms, lecture halls and undergraduate teaching laboratories that are equpipped with capable people, including full-time technicians, as well as financial resources to maintain and improve these facilities. We also have our very own faculty library and computer centre with comfortable places for students’ meeting, discussion and self-study. Besides in-class contact hours, e-learning is created for each courses so that students can easily communicate between one another, and therefore learning takes place without boundaries, everywhere and anywhere.
