TCERG

Tissue Culture Engineering Research Group was established in 2000 in Universiti Teknologi Malaysia (UTM). Led by Associate Professor Dr. Fadzilah Adibah Abdul Majid, an expert in mammalian cell culture technology, the group comprises 18 active associates and 20 allied members. Situated at Level 2, Block N19 of UTM, the Tissue Culture Engineering Laboratory conducts a wide variety of studies involving cell and tissue culture


Research Areas

  • Bioassays for efficacy, toxicity and structure-function studies of herbs for medicinal and cosmeceutical applications.
  • Development of specific hybridoma cultures for bio-diagnostic/biotherapeutic applications.
  • Stem cells for Wound Therapy.
  • In vitro biocompatibility studies for biomedical implants.
  • ‘In vivo’ preclinical bioassays using zebrafish and micemodels.

Partners

TCERG is in close collaboration with a number of other research groups both local and abroad. These groups include Institute of Bioproduct Development (IBD) and Meditec research group in UTM, School of Pharmacy in Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia, Kuliyyah Pharmacy in Universiti Islam Antarabangsa Malaysia, Institute of Marine Biotechnology in Universiti Malaysia Terengganu and Salahaddin University in Kurdistan region of Iraq.
