The department was established in March 15, 1983. It is one of the premier chemical engineering departments in the country. It has a 25 years history of innovation and creativity in both teaching and learning as well as in research. Our primary missions are to educate students and to discover and disseminate knowledge through research. The programme which is recognized by the Board of Engineers Malaysia has excellent facilities for teaching and learning and very experienced lecturers, which are among the reasons why students all over the world chose to pursue their study in Chemical Engineering at this department.
Students and the public in general are welcome to join the department in our efforts to inspire creative and innovative minds. The programme has been designed to provide our students with strong fundamental skills complemented with professional skills including generic skills. The inputs from visiting professors and advisers from industries are used for continuous quality improvement of the curriculum in order to meet the needs of the industries. The department also offers MSc and PhD in Chemical Engineering.
With 54 academic staff and more than 200 postgraduates we are inarguably among the largest group of chemical engineering innovators in the country. Up to now, the department has produced more than 2760 graduates. Our academic staff are also actively involved in consultation works with the government and private sector. We are proud of our past achievements and enthusiastic about our present activities and would like to share them with you.
